Happy Friday everyone! I recently inherited my late grandmother’s recipes and cookbooks. There were a handful of recipes she wrote down several times; Love Knots were one of those recipes. The first time I made these, they were not so great and I suspected that she had a few ingredients she didn’t write down, which seems to happen a lot. I did a few more tests with some slight modifications to her original recipe, and am very happy with the results!
Her recipe calls for vanilla extract (and that’s what I used for this batch), but anise extract and anisette are also very common, the latter being used in the icing.
